Posted in Apple Mac OS

Summary

In OS X Server (Mountain Lion), when your server is connected to an external directory system, users must be given explicit access to each service.

Products Affected

OS X Server (Mountain Lion)

If your server is connected to an external directory system, such as Active Directory, Open Directory, or another LDAP-based directory, users in the external directory do not have automatic access to your services. You must explicitly give users or groups access to these services.

  1. Select a user or group in Server app. This may an external user, an external group, or a local group that contains external users.
  2. From the Activity (gear) menu, choose "Edit Access to Services...".
  3. Check the box to grant access to the desired services, then click OK.

Additional Information

Local users and local network users on the server automatically have access to every active service on the server. You can use Edit Access to Services to restrict service access for these users.
